    Re: Some Flaky Scales...Answers?
My girl has had some random scale flakes (almost like dandruff) when she's getting close to a shed. I have a feeling it's from low humidity. I've tried to up the humidity, but I won't know until her next shed if that remedies the flake issues.

My guy had some flaky scales but then his eyes grayed over and he's shedding now so that answers that question.

    Re: Some Flaky Scales...Answers?
    Hey,
My male ball python (6-7 months old) has some flaky scales on the "head" half of his body as well as an odd rough patch on his nose. I've got him on aspen shavings, with a blue lamp for the cool side (around 80) and an under-tank for the hot side (around 90). My little humidity thing usually reads between 50 and 70. He tends to stay on the cool side 90% of the time. The flaky body scales are fairly new, but the rough patch on his nose has remained through at least one, possibly two sheds. It looks almost scar-like, but I've never left him alone with a mouse and I've never seen any violence. Seems totally healthy otherwise, eats regularly, no visible mucous or anything. Should I be worried?
    Here's the flaking scales:

And this one shows the rough patch on his nose:
