to much humidity????

yup no kidding mel.

I spray twice daily to maintain humidity, and thats with a generous amount of moss and foil-covering on the screen top.

temec, luckily you aren't TOO high on the humidity, I can't imagine 68% being very bad for the snake as long as the substrate stays dry, since 50-60% is the suggested. It shouldn't be too hard to tweak something and end up with a glass cage with perfect temps/humidity requiring no work to maintain them.

I'm with Jenn, try a different substrate.

I don't even think you need to change the substrate. I'm quite certain that your substrate will dry out and your humidity will drop over the next few days.

ive only had the tank setup for 3 days.... lol ... so 68% humidity isnt bad??

Im using cypress because the humidity around me was so low... next time i switch substrates ill go with aspen..

Switching to aspen should help. Also sometimes those accurites are a bit off on humidity levels. If the sensor gets wet or is sitting right on top of the substrate it will quite often show the humidity level being much higher than it actually is. But 68% humidity is not terrible you just don't want it to stay at that level for too long. Sometimes too when you first put in new substrate, especially if you are using cypress it takes a little while for the moisture that is in the substrate to dissipate which will cause temporarily high humidity levels.

I figured as much. Don't worry about the humidity being too high. Trust me, in a couple of days you will be worried that it's too low. Enjoy it while it lasts!!!

I'll split it with you 50/50 if I can get 9% here in Virginia...my humidity is driving me :taz: this winter.

Yup, that... I know when I used cypress and a glass tank with screen lid, I would put it in and the humidity would spike to 80% or above... Within a couple days, it was down to 35%. Unfortunately, glass enclosures require a lot of tweaking to get the setup just right.
