Re: Bloods as bad as reptuation?
First I had a Ball, he is amazing!
Now that I have a borneo, she is just as beautiful. About bad rep, mine is so sweet, never hissed except during a shed. :) Very handleable too, because of these and few other reasons, I will only buy blood/stp in the future. :gj:

Is it true that these guys have pretty strict husbandry requirements?
One of these guys might make it on my wish list someday!

You took the time to learn about and understand your Bloods so no it isn't luck, you can read their behavior and interact with them with little or no problems. You're having a good time with them because you are taking good care of your pets.
Try and picture what would happen if somebody bought a Blood and had no experience what so ever in caring for snakes, had no resources (like this forum) available to them, and wasn't at all interested in doing their homework. They would have a disaster on their hands and with all the mistakes they would make their Blood would be one angry fella.
My point is they make rewarding pets when people make the effort to care for them properly but these animals do have a bad side and will make an owner pay if they screw up. They can be so very naughty.
Re: Bloods as bad as reptuation?
All the previous info is correct.
As far as they're husbandry goes, yeah its a little more strict. You have to have theyre temps within very tight ranges. Too warm of temps and you've got a blood thats angry and could possibly rub on the cage front to get out. Too cold and youve got a lethargic animal thats succeptable to RI and regurgitation.
The humidity needs to be monitored closely also. These snakes scales as well as eye caps can be a good indicator of they're humidity requirements. Which in my experience Ive found to be between 65 to 70%.
They're just not as forgiving as say a burmese python where you can fudge temps and humidity for a while until you see a problem. If your messing up with bloods, they'll let you know.
