i'm no expert by any means, i'm just going by what i was told... the story i was given was that the couple we got them from bought them off a woman who paid $1400 for the pair from a good friend of hers for the sole purpose of scaring off her husband. (ridiculous, right?) so the snakes were given to this couple, then they decided after several months (including two months wherein the snakes were missing) they didn't want them anymore. so now they're with us.

from what information i could find, they look a lot like inlands to me. it's very possible that i was misinformed, so maybe someone can tell me by the looks of the photos above.

Yeah, those are coastals. I imagine if they paid that much, they were probably jag sibs or something. Couldn't imagine someone selling a normal pair of coastals for that much! Nice looking carpets, regardless. Glad you can give them a good home.

Definitely coastals. They look very similar to the pair I mentioned before that were misrepresented as Inlands.

The story smells fishy or someone was just raked over the coals. Either way, hope you are happy with them. Coastals are great snakes to have.

thanks for the feedback, but i'm just curious... what is the differentiating characteristic here? i'm not trying to be a smart-aleck, i'm genuinely curious. looking at pictures of course isn't the best way to classify a snake, but i didn't doubt that i had a pair of inlands simply because they did look so similar and i didn't really see the resemblence to the coastals as much because they seemed to be more brown, red, and generally bright.

i would be more interested in the fishiness of the story myself if i hadn't gotten them for free. :) they're great snakes, and a joy to have.
