Re: Warning to all reptile owners!!
I am and have been totally addicted.. but have kept my addiction in check for the good of would-be pets that I wouldn't have the space or time to take good enough care of. Now that I do have time/space though, it's hitting big. 1 BP, a pair of adult cresties(which will soon overrun me with babies within the next 12 months, or so I hope!).. I'm trying to get my girl to catch the bug, every time she comes with me to pick up a few feeders for my BP we stop by and look at all the available herps at Twin Cities Reptiles. She's very intrigued by the lizards. I'm thinking I'll give her a crestie sooner or later if/once my female starts producing eggs, she just adores them and thinks they are the cutest ever.

Altho I only have one BP as of now, but I can say, I TOO have the fever.

I remember as a kid I used to fear ALL snakes , due to the lack of understanding them. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would ever own one. Altho thinking back in my early childhood, I guess I could say I have always had a spot in my heart for reptiles and other critters. I remember growing up in Southern Cali. going outside and spending most of my time chasing Lizards, Toads, and Frogs. Getting so good at learning how they move, and even catching some in a bucket and bringing them home to MOM (who would freak out btw, lmao):O

As I grew I read alot and learned about many diff types of reptiles. And after my first Visit to ANY Zoo (sad to say as an adult) I remember spending lots of time jus staring at he snakes.
I got the itch one day and did my research on a snake that would not grow too large and that was very docile, (due to the fact that I have 2 small chldren and not much room for anything larger than 6') Little did I know this would be a BP I would own about 1 year later.

Now my Wife (who herself used to fear snakes [6mos ago], also due to the lack of understanding) loving me as much as she does, seen that twinkle in my eye everytime I shared something new I read about reptiles, Decided for my next Birthday, she would give in and let me buy a snake. Now thats what I call love!

At first she use to say how much she didnt really want "That Snake" in our room, let alone in her house, but now she has gotten so used to Cali that now she holds her, and talks to her like a baby. lmao! I keep bringing up that I want more snakes, and she keeps giving me that evil eye, but I know another 6 months to a year, she will give in. And heck who knows she may even let me buy one she'll call her own.. One can only dream, She also keeps asking me when the next reptile show is coming up. Altho she wont admit it, she is starting to gain intrest. She uses the excuse "The kids enjoy going to the shows" lmao whatever she says!

sorry for my long story. But like many people here, once I start talking about how much I enjoy having my BP, I tend to get carried away.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! :D

I can't wait until I have a house.. Right now living out of an apartment I'm going to limit myself to crested geckos(plenty of room for them) and three BPs.. I've got room for two more BPs still so there is room to fulfill more of the addiction :D

Once I'm living in a house, I've got plans to start a rodent colony, and talk my girl to being alright with a BCI. My main interest though is more BPs! I'm both glad(for my wallet's sake) and sad(for my addiction's sake) that there really aren't any reptile shows easily accesible from Minneapolis it seems.

I have warned all of my friend that if we ever fall out of touch (unlikely), and five years later they decide to look me up and visit.... well, I told them to knock first, because there's a good chance that the floor of my house will be concealed by massive snakes and there will be lizards climbing up the walls. :D
