Re: New blood.....Got a question
yeah that wee blood looks in good health at face value certainly not thin and undernurished.
I echo everything Connie has said, it saddens me sometimes when I see the amount some people feed their bloods and the rapid "fat" growth they will sometimes attain.
Young Bloods (thats the snakes not the gangs lol ) are skittish nervous and like to hide alot. In your case the health of the animal is of 1st concern and getting rid of the mites, followed by making sure the environment is healthy and it feels safe and secure.
I think when you have addressed what needs to be addressed leave the blood in peace for at least 2 weeks to get a bit of confidence back before offering food, especially as it looks physically well.
Keep it in a quiet place with little traffic in the meantime.
Re: New blood.....Got a question
Well, 2 months later and he's been eating since early December. He was 189 grams when I got him. He's now 278 grams and eating ASF "hoppers" once a week. Thanks for all the help everybody! Hopefully it'll be a fairly smooth road from here on out. I'll post a pic thread when I get my camera unpacked. No more camera phone pictures from me. lol
Re: New blood.....Got a question
What are those equivelant to? the asf hoppers?
He should be able to eat a good rat pup at this point. My babies are eating rat pups and packing on the weight.
Re: New blood.....Got a question
They're 3-4 week old ASFs. They leave a nice little lump in him. I just moved, so I haven't found a place to buy trust worthy snake food yet. I breed ASFs, so that's what my babies get for now. I'm going to start breeding mice (for my hognose) and maybe a pair of regular rats again in the near future. Still not sure about the rats though. ASFs are just so much easier.

I'm glad everything worked out well for you! Post pics when you can. :gj:
