So what about fat content? For instance, does 6f just fit the bill the best as for the ability to feed to the entire colony, or is 9f better with the extra fat. Also, is less than 5% fat too little for nursing moms/babies such as in the kent 23%.

Here is my thinking....Kent is easy for us to get, half the price of the Mazuri, and if nothing else, could just be fed to females, if not just the nursing moms and babies. The problem then is what to feed the rest of the colony, which is still pretty small for us....so...9f or 6f? Or, is the 23% and low fat content just not good enough despite the savings. When I saw Shadi11's colonies, they seemed very healthy, normal and were producing very well, all of this on the 23% Kent. This was with rats and ASF's. I do remember them saying they didnt like their rats, but I dont remember the particular reason, I will have to ask to see if it is pertinent to this issue.

Kent Feed. Never heard of them before but I am very interested in getting their Rat feed. I have looked high and low and cannot find anything on their web site. I guess maybe it's not on there. Is there a product number or ID number for their rat feeds?

Thank you for the post...I can only get LabDiet in the 50 lbs bags...I think I pay $25 - $30, but I can't remember...I'm just happy I can get bulk block...

I just use a combination of hamster/gerbil feed and large parrot feed. Absolutely no problems and the mouse pups grow fast. Everyone gains weight well too.
