You need a rat guy - I've finally got a rat guy - for that very reason. I can't raise up rats for the adults in my collection, because the hatchlings get all the litters I produce! Greedy little brats! :D

Congrats on getting Tuesday to eat a rat - I wonder if the car ride also had anything to do with it? I know some people poo-poo that notion, but I've recently been reading more and more lately - well respected folks in this industry swear by the car ride for the reluctant feeder.

African Soft Furred Rats. Here's a link on their care that also shows pictures of what they look like. I breed rats and ASF's. No mice here for me - little stinky fellas!

Picky ball pythons tend to do well with ASF's, because they are considered to be their natural prey in Africa.

I swear by ASFs... I have not had imprinting issues with them long term, and have been able to kick start all my stubborn feeders on them and then get them to switch over almost immediately.

I only have 3 out of 40 (now that Tuesday is a rat eater) that will only take ASFs.

1 being a long term gerbil eater that fasted for six months before taking an ASF (and still gets offered a mouse or rat every 3 feeds - but so far no takes).

2 being WC adult females that fasted for a good 8 months in captivity. Not sure they will ever switch over, but that is fine, there is no rush for them to do so.

As for the car ride... could be, I had not thought about that. I half expected half of them to go off feed from the changes, but only the 2 WCs and the ex gerbil eater refused.
