Triple antibiotic ointment (neosporin) WITHOUT pain relievers are fine to use. The wound should shed out just fine...

No you don't. That would just me more for them(especially the adult granite female, EBIL!) to hone in on and attempt to bite/eat/eviscerate/whatever.
Plus, I feed in the dark with a flashlight in my mouth, wouldn't see a whole lot except for faces and teeth lashing into view every so often.

If there are just scales missing and no actual wound the antiseptic won't do anything.
