    i soak at 85 degrees. water that is warm to you may be a death sentence to them..

    You want to match the body temperature and the water temperature as close as possible. I use my IR thermometer to get an idea of the snakes body temp then use an aquarium thermometer to measure the water temp. Also, since water cools pretty fast I use water that is a few degrees warmer than the snake. If the snake was about 86F I would use water that is 88-89F.
