But butters didn't come from the Platinum male, so they do not carry the gene.

I believe RDR did breed the Platinum gene INTO some butters to make 'Butter-Daddies", but there aren't a bunch of butters out there carrying the gene, to the best of my knowledge.

Not exactly. Any butter or lesser breed to a platty sib will produce a butter daddy or platty. Ralph's first butter daddy was produced from a normal butter to a platty sib female. The sibs are the hidden gene carriers. Doesn't matter where the lesser or butter came from.

Nothing too special about them IMHO, I have a normal girl who is a sibling to the sable I have but she's special cause her mommy laid 19 eggs!!!

Well, that's interesting...so only one copy of the gene has to be present for it to combine with lesser or butter and create platinum? Do all proven platty sib hidden gene carriers produce clutches of 25% platinums, or is it more random than that?
I would think there should be some way to create and prove out a super for the hidden gene...I wonder if it would manifest as anything? He must have tried it by now. I wonder if he's keeping it hidden? lol

The IMG gene proves that things are a lot more complicated than just 'recessive, co-dom, or dom', but that hidden platty gene fascinates me.
