Febreze Air filter- Nope, it doesn't work

Connie I believe you the best thing is an exhaust fan. Even just a box fan blowing air out of the room works awesome.

I am putting off buying an actual air filter because I know how much dust my rats kick up, and I would be buying HEPA filters up the wazoo! :rolleye2:

I have to go out and sweep off the dust on the window screen from my fan every 2 weeks or so. :P

I tried one of those ionic breeze machines, but it just couldn't handle the amount of dust the rats kick up.

LOL, connie, I could have told you that an air filter would not work for you!

I use the febreez filter and it works... but it only works for a short period of time. Obviously an exhaust fan is the only real solution, but for some of us, that is not an option!!!!

I used that idea, but didnt want to spend $30 or whatever on that one filter, so this is what I did

The only thing I bought besides the air purifier was the activated carbon and the white mesh stuff, total of like $6.50

It works great and I leave it on 2, you can feel the air moving around the room.

littleindiangirl, the large dust particles will never make it to the hepa filter! especially with my setup lol

Looks like a great idea. How well does it work? I'm working on a prototype can filter using screen and 4" PVC tubing with a blower from a central A/C unit. Sort of an industrial version of the one in the DIY. I just need to find a place to get the activated carbon in bulk.

Edit: I didn't read the last part of your post. I see it works good.

It works great for just one room, If I ever did have a room dedicated to more feeders I would just buy a larger air purifier and do the same setup, with an exhaust fan.

I have an idea something like that too, but not with the PVC. Maybe I can cross ideas on you to see what you think of it.

my first idea was to take some wire and form a cylinder then take some cloth mesh around that, put the active carbon then some more mesh with pvc on the outside with holes so that the air purifier would push all the air into the active carbon. The way I did it was so much easier and cheaper.
