I just bought one recently. I did a lot of research and ended up buying the Olympus E-510. It has image stabilization built into the body, live view, and you can get it with two lenses (14-42mm & 40-150mm) for $650

So far it is the bomb. You can check out my flickr page for samples.

I don't think you can go wrong for the money. Its a 10 megapixel SLR with two lenses for the same price as the Canon or Nikon with one lens.

I use a Canon Rebel XT at work several days a week and love it. The refresh time between shots are amazing.

We are lookin into buying the D80.

It seems to be the best all around camera, that has a little more features to play with!

i have a canon rebel xt in the classifieds.

in low light situations, canon dominates over nikon, especially at the entry level.

nikon finally switched to a CMOS sensor which is what canon has been using all along. ($2k and up.)

I know there higher end cameras have it, not so sure about the entry level stuff....

I use the Canon Rebel XTi and love it. I have a 18mm-55mm for the snakes and close ups and Have a 75mm-300mm for outdoor shots. I also use a few different filters depending on the pic and where it is taking. Once you go DSLR you never go back...lol

Thanks for all the GREAT info (and amazing pics) all! I did end up ordering the D60 though, I'm going to play with it and see if I like it. A friend of mine has a Canon Rebel that I'm going to check out also and make my decision once I have them both. I appreciate the quick and info packed responses though :D
