why not tape?

Can you put in on your heat source? I'm getting some flex watt in the next few days and I will be putting my probe directly on that. That way I don't have to deal with wires in the tubs anymore.

Best tape for going directly on the flex watt is aluminum tape. You can find it at the hardware store. One roll seems expensive, but it should last a long time.

So you would likely have a higher temp than you would be looking for, correct? i.e. you would set your TStat at 100 looking for 92 on the substrate (hypothetical numbers)

I have my probe on the glass on the inside of my tank, under the aspen. I set the T-stat to 96F on the glass to get 90~92 at the belly.

Nope. We put the probe where we wanted it. Then I put a huge glob of glue over top of it, then we covered it with substrate. I didn't glue between the probe and glass. Then I hot glued the wire all the way up to the top in the corner of the tank.

I'd personally leave the probe un-touched by anything, and just glue the wire itself in place.

are you talking about a tank or a tub?? if you are talking about a tank, just tape the probe directly to the UTH From under the tank (oustide the tank). foil tape works best.

My question to the people who hot glue their wires to the tank... what do you do when it's time to wash/clean out the tank? I was thinking of hot gluing the cords to the tank but then when I need to clean it, the moisture will obviously ruin the cords and I won't be re applying hot glue once every month. Somebody I know uses sticky tack to hold plants in place for their Burmese Python and so far he hasn't had a problem.

I would think as long as you dont submerge the probe, there should be no problems with moisture and the probe. The wires shouldnt have any problems being wet either
