Re: Opinions on morph males to get with about $1,000-$1200
I would go with a pair of lessers and a black pastel female.

I can only speak for myself on selling Pins...That statement in my case is the furthest thing from the truth...I wish I had more Pins to sell...I've sold Pins like hotcakes this year along with Lessers - My best sellers this year by far...That and Albinos...
IMO - I wouldn't wait to get your girls - I'd get them before you got your male...It's VERY easy to get males to produce their 1st year (well before their a year old)...Girls are where your time comes in...I've never had much luck buying adult girls but have had great success buying baby females and raising them up...Just my 2 cents...There are a load of males (or multiple males) you can get with $1K...I'd go with double codom/dom males or your bread and butter recessives...

But you're "BT- Rebel from the South" and everyone wants to buy from you ;) And you have some really great product you've put out. LOVED the granite pins!
That being said -- I didn't have any problems with the pins either -- wish I could have produced more females -- everyone wanted females.
Really the only thing I did have problems selling this year were the spinners -- everyone wanted them -- no one wanted to buy them least not at any reasonable price. Shoulda just done bees like everyone else. And normal males -- having a hard time giving those away.
As long as you don't produce more than you can take care of until you can sell them anything is a good project.

Go with what you like.
I am buying my females first because breeding males are easier to come by and are cheaper females are the real investment. Males are just like cheep hookers, easy to find cheap to get and usually willing to get it on.
Just my .02
Re: Opinions on morph males to get with about $1,000-$1200
I agree with BT n Tosha... I bought all my females first and put the time in to raise them up to breeding weight. As BT said males can go younger and theres nothing saying that the up to weight breeding females will go for you once you pick them up. Some of them need months to settle down before they'll breed for you. I have 2 06' females and 7 07's with one female hovering around 1200g right now so she may go this year. If you're not planning on breeding till 2010 you mine as well just snatch up some combo morph females and skip the normals.

LOL...Thanks for the laugh Tosha...I appreciate the comments though...I did bomb on the female morphs...I can't give away normal males either - The local petshops won't even take them for free...LOL...
Re: Opinions on morph males to get with about $1,000-$1200
I wrote a paragraph about why I want to do what I want to do but I guess it got deleted for some reason? If I did something wrong please whoever deleted it PM me and let me know...
Anywho I want to do it with normal females from a reputable place that I know will send me good breeding females and I want to do it to maximize morph output as soon as possible. I've been thinking more and I might bump up the initial investment to $1,500 grabbing a Bee instead of a Spider, a Mojo and BP male, keeping for a year and then breeding to like 6 norms for morph babies. I want my breeding to be self sustaining as in I can make enough morphs the first breeding year to sell to cover my initial investment and then build up from there getting pieds, albinos, more doms/co-doms etc and start doing the cool stuff.
Re: Opinions on morph males to get with about $1,000-$1200
Work with what you want to work with, not what are hot sellers or whatnot. Morphs go up and down every year and what is a really hot one today will be wholesaled tomorrow. Pick some morphs you like and will enjoy keeping and raising up and then go for it!

This is the best advice that I keep hearing and definitely take to heart. I do like Pins and may get one if the price is right but for my first year I do have to keep costs down and the Spider, Mojo and BP/Cinny are all inexpensive co-dom/dom morphs that'll get me started. Later on I'll buy a bee male, lesser male and a pin male and some more normal breeders.

for many combos SPIDER , BUTTER , and PINSTRIPE.
