Is it just my bad eyes or is there a lizard in there as well (on top of the post sticking out at an angle on the right side)?

Having built some wooden cages myself, if you do not seal that wood (basically water proof it) then in a short time, it will need to be trashed. BP's produce a good bit of urine, so that will soak into the wood, fecal material will get smeared into the sides eventually, and it will be impossible to clean it off properly. Other than the wood being sealed right and the plant issue already brought up, I think the cage looks nice.

Is the wood you used pine??If so you need to treat the inside, or you could skin it with plastic sheeting. You can get pvc that is like 1/16" thick. Thats what I would do to it. You could use spray on adhesive and then let it cure for a while so it wouldn't be toxic to your animal.. Anyways thats just a suggestion. It looks great otherwise. The next one you build you should use melamine or pvc sheets..
