Nope - a pastel is a base morph (or mutation) and is NOT a normal. Pinstripe, mojo and enchi are different base mutations, not related to pastels.
Normals can vary from light to dark, but are NOT pastels.
Some of the examples in that thread were some of my own normal females. Here is my lemon pastel male. I think he's a huge contrast from those in that thread to maybe make it easier to tell. And I'll post some pictures of normals and pastels from the same clutch:
This is my lemon pastel, Winston. Notice his faded head, his bright yellow and the light blushing on his back. Lemon pastel is one LINE of pastels. Blonde, Graziani are a couple of others.

Here is Winston with a normal female during breeding last year:

And they produced 2 pastels and 4 normals
See the pastels' faded heads and white lips?

Pastel female with her sisters:

Pastel female - you can see her white lips better here:

Her normal sister with a brown head:

Hope this helps!
Re: What Qualifies a morph or a normal?
yep helps alot.. i can clearly see the contrast in these two types.
Re: What Qualifies a morph or a normal?
Oh you wanted to see the difference visually, gotcha! Well here's a handy link then to the Morph Hunter's Guide...

Also with pastels, though it's often hard to see in photographs, they have green eyes.
Re: What Qualifies a morph or a normal?
