I feel like we have known each other for a while, so please allow me to be frank.

BullCrap. Times are too tight to worry about him. If you honestly think it would be worth your hard earned money.... and you are willing to spend more of your hard earned money to "fix" it then go for it. If it isn't then DO NOT DO IT. Shelves right now in the hardware stores are VERY inexpensive. You can make a rack full of tanks with less money... and they are CLEANABLE!!!!

If nothing else, make it interesting. Regardless of whether you plan to buy it or not... tell him you really like the rack, but after doing your bills tonight you realized that you just can't do it.... the most you could possibly come up with right now is $50 cash.... and you know that isn't enough..... and that your very sorry.....

Then be absolutely quiet for a minute... and see what he says. I don't care how uncomfortable the silence is. just be quiet... and let him speak...

    Negotiations 101.

    Thank me tommorow.

:) Thanks for the straight forward comments there, Mike.

I had said before you posted that I emailed him and told him no. I looked closer at the pictures and saw too many flaws. I gave the excuse that my BF wouldn't let me get it for more than $50, which I knew he wouldn't take. I think I can do a ton better on something similar for $100 or less.

Get this, the guy at first wanted $250 for it since he'd "Put $300 or more into making it". Yeah right! And if he did, he wasted the materials with shoddy workmanship.

So, anyone have any plans or pictures for a system like that one? :D

Actually, corns do fine at most people's ambient humidity. With that in mind, I wouldn't worry about humidity. My concern would have been, as others have said, the pegboard. But that could easily be fixed by laying a piece of vinyl around the bottom portion.

I found an awesome shelf unit at sam's club for about 80 bucks. It is heavy duty, on wheels and you can put the shelves wherever you need them. I've got my cresties on there in their exoterras and the babies on the shelf above them. I'd say its four feet long, 18" wide and 6' tall.
