I have a prescription for you... One new veterinarian, to be started immediately. Side effects may include a better use for your money :D

Ditto! I worked as a Vet tech at 2 different hospitals (neither that dealt with exotics on a routine basis), and a wildlife center. & with the exception of one of the hospitals where one vet was very good, I was amazed at the laziness (that's what it boils down to) of the other vets. They never considered any cases that came through as possibly being anything new, etc. They would just give the same ol' diagnosis/treatment for everything that seemed similar (this backfired many times, btw). And as far as exotics, well, I think maybe they should not lump rabbits, ferrets, tarantulas, and snakes in the same category. I can tell you that, with the exception of some highly specialized practices, most vets do not take the time to learn the difference between the needs of Ball Pythons, and Garter snakes (as an example).

Don't you listen to a word of that, and find yourself another vet even for your bunny!
That tub looks quite good, cute even with the flowers. It's just the right size since the snake can move about.
And I, too, am glad that the vet didn't just write off the worms. At least the poor snakey is getting treatment...albeit rude and uninformed treatment. :)
I trust the folks here over 90% of vets...UNLESS they are certified reptile vets, of course.
And your snake is a pretty baby. Good for you for taking him in!

I love that she made the snake poop while saying that there is no poop because he's using all the nutrients. riiiiight... Glad she found the parasites so you can get him proper treatment. But I definitely agree with the general consensus- find a new vet!

I had a similar experience with a Vet where I live, when i first started keeping snakes I had a big female that the heater broke on her tub and i didnt know it (yes this was all my fault, I didnt have an accurite) She got an RI, so i took her to the vet, I told the vet what happened and the vet prescribed oral baytril, this isnt very good for snakes with an RI, they should have it injected. Also the Vet told me since she hasnt eaten in 2 months that it was time to force feed... She was a fatty!!! she wasnt loosing weight!!
Anyways long story short, she died of an RI... Since then I have found a new vet and she is very nice!!

OMG! Someone who shares my frustration! My vet is so retarded when it comes to snakes... And she is a Reptile Vet. Every time I go I ask her to sex my snake Kyros and I get the same answer
* sticks probe in.. takes probe out * " be right back" * leaves for 2-5 min* * comes back* "I 'THINK' its a girl( 1st time)/ Boy (last time i went).." would you like me to check again?"
and of course I'm like 'HECK NO!! You are not sticking a cold metal rod up his... I mean her... oh whatever "HIS" butt again at the same appointment!!!"
worst part is she is the only Repi vet around and it costs 48 bucks for just a check up...... If Ki gets sick I have to drive 2 hours one way to get him to a good vet (which I will if the need arises. nothing but the best for my ball python)
The things I do for my snake.... but truth be told, I couldn't be happier!

That must suck. Although I've never been through an experience quite like that, I was told by a vet that keeping my male ball python in a 32 quart tub was "cruel and inhumane" and that she considered calling animal control to take my animal from me. Needless to say I never went back to that ....nevermind...I'll be nice.
Either way, good luck finding a new vet!

Thanks guys, you've all made me feel much better. I'm glad I wasn't just overreacting or anything. I actually do have a vet that I like, but his practice is located in Guam (not literally), and you have to have an appointment a month in advance because he's also the veterinarian for the Palm Beach Zoo. So when I just needed a quick fecal float, I figured I could go to one of "the little guys". Apparently not.
Learned my lesson, THAT'S for sure. ;)
And thanks for the kind words on the rescue. I haven't really noticed any drastic improvement other than the fact that he's pounding rats like they're going out of style. Every Sunday he comes FLYING out of his tub, like, "Where is it?! I know it's here somewhere!" :giggle
Also, his tub is really haphazardly put together. It's "left-overs" from other tanks. Now that it's been brought to my attention, I'm going to spend some of next paycheck re-doing it for him. :)
