    Awesome. I would like to do a pond however I am in arizona. I bet it would be to hot. I also would worry about it attracting scorpions which scare the crap out of me lol. However I think it would be awesome to have a huge pond area.

    well i don't think it'd be too hot if you had shade over it, or at least structure within the pond that would allow for shade... like lillypads, logs, etc. you would also want to dig it deep enough to allow a thermal gradient. in michigan, i have to dig it deep enough to make sure it doesn't freeze all the way through to the bottom! this pond is probably at least 4.5' deep.
