hey larry, im guessing that the little black wire hanging behind the GTP underneath the panel is your thermostat probe, right?

and if i do this im going to use a 12" strip of 11" flexwatt to create a basking area for GTPs in a 24" cube enclosure. think this will work out fine?

Julian, depending on your room conditions, on piece may not be enough. I have 2 - 24 inch cubes heated with overhead flex.
One has a single piece of 11 inch and in the winter it runs full blast to keep minimum temps. I'll take a few pics for you.

Yeah, I was worried that a single panel of 11" wouldn't be enough, so went with the three panels of 3". The three inch is 10 watts per foot and the 11" is 20 watt per foot.

I end up with a 30 watt panel.

Damon is right on the overheating, you have to be very carefull on setup.

Re: convert flexwatt into a radiant heat panel!
all my enlosures are located in a heated room that wont drop below 80-82 degrees F even in the winter so i would only need a heating element to warm a small area on the hot side by a few degrees, 8-10 MAX. i think that a 12" piece would work in these conditions but what do you guys with the experience think?

very nice GTPs by the way!

If your room stays at 80, one piece of 11 inch will be fine. My office is in the high sixtys/low seventys in the winter, so my cages have to have plenty of heat and be efficient at heating.
