just like ball python and royal python are common names for Python regius, fancy mouse is the common name for Mus musculus. all the mice kept as pets and feeders are fancy mice. field mice, deer mice, etc., are not fancy mice... But even your PEWs are still classified as fancy mice...

my colony has half and half, but I did find my Albinos bred better and had larger litters. After that I lost count because I put them all together:oops: But yeah, I went through three fancy males and when none of the bred I picked up one albino and a month later I had six litters:gj:A little off the point but I thought id share that, I read somewhere that albinos made to have more litters in labs long ago? doubt it but we will see who replys to this!

I have come to the same conclusion. Seems as though the albinos mature quicker, therefore produce quicker. My core breeder female just died. But she was albino and popped out 18+ everytime. I was lucky to get 10-12 out of the 'fancies'. But nonetheless, I enjoy the fancies more. If I am going to be cleaning up after them I might as well like what I am looking at. LOL

    Damn 18+ from a litter???
I got 8 and 9 from two different moms so far, but then again it is their first litters with me and probably over all.

I have a couple groupings of albino lab mice and a bunch of fancy mice. I like my fancys. But I have also got them down to good production numbers. I have litters of 15-25 typically from every mom. But my albino lab mice will have litters of 18-30. I also have albinos I produced here.. Which also tend to yeild me high numbers as well. Normally not less than 18.

30??!! 30??!! Really THIR-TY babies??!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! That's a lot!!! One interesting note, when I worked at PETCO,(for 7+ years) I had two BP customers who asked for the fancy mice. I could never figure it out because the fancy mice(ridiculous as it sounds)were a DOLLAR more. Both customers told me their BP would only eat colored mice. Weird, huh?
