Re: Missed th fedex package!
Crossing my fingers that all goes well. I would definitely put a LARGE sign on your front door for that FedEx guy for tomorrow making it clear you want that package hand delivered to you and the door to be repeatedly knocked/bell rung.
I had our first FedEx mess up today when our Reptster boxes were delivered and just dumped on the front porch. I was home all day, we have a clearly marked doorbell that you can't miss hearing but nada. Mike went to take the dog out for a walk and there's our box just left on the porch. Thank goodness it wasn't a live animal and our porch is covered and deep since it was pouring rain. I was less than impressed and if it happens again you can be sure a letter will be speeding off from us to the local FedEx terminal manager!

Re: Missed th fedex package!
If you have not already, contact the breeder that sent the snake to you and let them know what is going on.
I really hope everything works out ok tomorrow. Crossing my fingers for you.

I made a note that in large letters says " FEDEX-KNOCK LOUDLY, SOMEONE IS HOME. KEEP TRYING UNTIL SOMEONE COMES"

Re: Missed th fedex package!
You know what, UPS really needs to ship snakes. Ive never had a problem with them shipping reptiles and they wait until someone opens the door.
Now, What do you guys think of breeders makeing you sign for the packages? Personaly i hate it just because this has happened. I know they do it for good reasons, but id much rather have it to where the guarantees work only if you sign for the package, but if you do not it is left on the front porch. This could lead to problems but trust me, if you have a reptile coming your not likly to forget to check every five seconds.

Personally, I think I would not want FedEx leaving my box just anywhere. You never know what the driver is going to do with it. At least if you have to sign for it, you know it is either in your hands or on the truck.
A breeder could give you the option that you give up the guarantee if you want it left without a signature.

How can you guarantee live arrival if FedEx dumps the snake on somebody's porch and walks away because they don't have to get a signature? This is a living creature we're talking about here that could be left baking in the sun, stolen by a neighbour, whatever. Signing for the package is the only reasonable, sane thing to do as far as I'm concerned when you are dealing with living creatures.
As far as I'm aware Reptster is supposed to be working on some sort of deal with UPS much as they have set up with FedEx.

Re: Missed th fedex package!
Luckily the last two snake shipments I've had have been by the same guy, who thankfully knocked pretty hard. :]
I'm angry for you, I would give them hell.

I know, but really, if youve got a snake coming you shouldnt be doing something else. If they hadnt left the door tag I wouldnt have gone to work because your right, its a living animal! At least if its a sign or drop, they knock and try to get you, and not just drop it off if no signing is needed at all. Im worried to death because I have no idea how hot or cold the what ever he is in right now is, if he was left on my door step he wouldnt have been there for more than a few minutes.
My last shipment was from repster, and fedex delivered( late)

Re: Missed th fedex package!
When I'm expecting a snake to arrive I always put a sign on the door asking them to knock loudly.
Signing for any live animal delivery is a must, protects both sides of the transaction.

Re: Missed th fedex package!
It sucks that you missed your FedEx guy, but with live animals, signature required for sure. That's why I always got all my animals delivered to my work and signed for. No missed work days (which would have been a lot) and no chance of missing the FedEx guy. My office manager hated me for having to accept live snakes and lizards and big boxes of rats, but I never missed a delivery.
