Thanks for the info. I was just wondering about adding new weans to an older group. I currently have a 1.2 group with the first female getting ready to wean, and the next will probably pop in the next week. Being so far apart, I just wanted to know if they would fight. So far in the thread, I see they do not.

Makes sense- when we get large orders of rats in they all come mixed into rodent boxes and they don't fight as long as pieces of potato / food are thrown in.

Lol! I thought that was what everyone does and thats what I've been doing.

Although I get almost ALL males so I've been doing it a little different. I weaned them when they just open their eyes and I put ALL of the weaned ones in the FEMALEs Tub, Since there is usualy only like 3-5 females in there. As soon and I place the new ASFs in, the older females check them out and start licking them. When the males start droping their testicles, I replace them to the MALEs tub.

    Maternal Instinct?? :)

i put all my weiners into a 20 gallon aquarium, there are 30 or so in there right now, probably minus 10 or 15 after tonight (feeding night is monday, yay!) and haven't witnessed any fighting or chasing whatsoever.

my ASF production is hopefully going to double soon though, as i now have 2 colony's of 1.4 going. so we'll see if any fighting comes along. i hope not!

one of my pregnant females just gave birth for the first time.
I got home and looked in and she was squeezing one out.
Should I take out the male?

This is the first time I've had them give birth.

Leave the male in it, cause when you put them back they will fight.
