Re: Saggers laws...uhmmm what?!?!?!
They were trying to pass the same law in one of the Atlanta metro areas, but I'm not sure if it passed or not. :weirdface

Just the reply like that... it gave the impression that profiling is a bad thing. Yes, sometimes profiling can be detrimental, but profiling itself is based on past occurances to create the profile that would be most likely to act a certain way, or other such activities. This is largely based on history, whether that be data collected or personal experiences.
Racial profiling is a profile standard or assumption made based largly on their ethnicity or race.
No one here can say they don't profile someone when they look at a stranger. It's human nature, we all do it. Everyone profiles. They may base it on dress, mannerisms, tone of voice, body language and even their race. We make our first impression of someone through that process.
That girl at the club who is wearing a piece of cloth in the front and a miniskirt while she grinds with 5 guys around her.
The weird stuttering guy at the drive thru that looks just a second too long at you while he hands you your change.
The hot bodied college guy wearing some fresh hollister, to die for cologne, and that very flirty and charming smile...
We all profile. Profiling is not such a bad thing...
Okay... off soap box.

:salute: God Bless America
That's all I have to say about that...
Re: Saggers laws...uhmmm what?!?!?!
3 to 12 months for showing your boxers! Wow! What about the girls who's thongs show when they bend over? No punishment for that? I'd say that's a little closer to indecent exposure than showing boxers, but that's just me.
As to the suspicion that Flint is using this as an excuse to legally search saggers because they all apparently have drugs and weapons, I think that probably is the whole point of the 'law.'
Interesting little fact that most profilers aren't aware of... A very large percentage of shoplifters are NOT 'gangbangers' or 'teenyboppers'..... They're white, middle-age, middle-class women doing it for the thrill. So maybe if department store personnel weren't so busy following the 'suspicious' looking people around the store, they might realize this. They follow the kids around the stores not realizing that 75% of shoplifters are adults...
Re: Saggers laws...uhmmm what?!?!?!
Haha that's good Flint Nasty for ya!
Re: Saggers laws...uhmmm what?!?!?!
I agree with you Connie.
It is necessary to profile (pre-judge)..to a degree.
this law however..is far past that.
I do not believe that just because a group of kids are wearing their pants below their butts that they are drug dealers or that they are into any kind of crime.
I would think that if they had researched it enough to see what area had the most crime and then how many of them were saggers and blah blah blah..it would make much more sence. But to just say all people who are saggers should be punished because it gives the "impression" that they are suspect is just rediculous.
Sagging became popular in the late 80's. The chicks and dudes all did it. Jermaine Dupri was one of the first people to do it in the mainsteam and it caught on. It is just a fashion statement.
Re: Saggers laws...uhmmm what?!?!?!
that saggy style came from the inmates not being allowed to wear a belt......real good role models.

That's true, but I don't actually believe the basis for this law was to weed out "potential" criminals... I think the guy just has a hair up his butt cuz he doesn't like how someone dresses.

That's VERY true, I can't tell you how many times we would see middle aged white woman stealing from Bed bath and Beyond. It's even funnier when they know we knew, and try to approach us for questions or help to perhaps throw us off the trail.
Eventually, they drop the goods off somewhere and leave in a hurry.
What's even more impressive is the people that load CARTS full of goods and push them right out the door. :/ Yup.
Re: Saggers laws...uhmmm what?!?!?!
your right Ninjas...but how many kids are looking at inmates and saying..I wanna be like that dude. As opposed to them seeing Snoop ( ;) ) or whoever with their pants like that and saying..I wanna be like that!
It's whatevras fo me.
I just don't see the big deal.
It also really bothers me because I heard the other day that this lady whose husband is serving our country in Iraq...had his identity stolen. The lady has all the proof in the world that she needs for them to nail the dude but because he is an illegal immigrant there is just 'so much more to it'...as they say. I dunno but their real excuse is that they do not have the manpower to handle these situations...there is far too much more "serious" crime to worry about.
Saggers?!?!?!
I mean...fo rill.
