I remember reading about some idiot down South that was known to have parties, get wasted and then bring out his Rattlesnakes. Needless to say there is one less idiot in the world infecting the gene pool...

Ya my general rule is 3 drinks and no more snakes. A drink meaning a beer, small glass of wine, or shot. Just too many mistakes can easily be made.

If you think about it for a second it makes sense.. like lets say..
Look at the word 'intoxicated'. IN TOXIC ATED.
Generally alcohol is a poison, it is toxic. Therefore, when they smell the toxicity of someones breath they treat it as if it's something poisonous.. or dangerous.. or potentially harmful through their sense of smell. It seems ok to us, but they smell that and their mind reacts to it as if it would react to a toxic waste or gasoline on the street.

Anyway, thats just what my mind wrapped around, I don't know how logical it really is, but it makes sense to me..

lol, don't drink and drive- and don't drink and handle snakes (or really anything, for that matter lol). I've actualy heard of quite a few people getting tagged by their snakes while hadleing them after (or I guess maybe during) srinking.. Sooo I would think it's not a good plan!

I think snakes just have a sense for when you are not in your normal state of being. My boyfriend has a ball python. When he was drunk one time, and i was not, he held her and she acted like she was going to strike him...then i would hold her and she would be fine and calm down. After a few minutes of him holding her, she did strike at him, but just as a warning, not to actually harm him and didn't make contact. :)

I'm always afraid that I will forget to lock the tanks if I get drunk and let the snakes out...that and I don't want to get complacent and have the snake eat our kitten...that would get me killed by the G/F

i tell people that i know that drink,
    dont drink and dial,
    dont drink and drive,
and dont drink and mess with snakes... or most animals for that matter...

i had a friend who's pet rats would act out of nature when he would come home even after just one beer... animals are pretty smart, i wouldnt doubt that they dont like the smell, heck i dont like it... lol
