    I use a a Bic style ball point pin to do the same thing as the q tip, but Ive only done this to larger snakes I dont think it will work on babies.,

    All this seems just a bit extreme to me. Usually if there's something in the mouth, you'll see them yawning and adjusting their mouth to get it out. If you're not observing that behavior, why not just get him checked out by a vet?

    Well, I guess it was all a bit extreme, because I took little Roku out today and not once did his tongue get stuck! Fifteen minutes of tongue flicking action and not once did he have problems (that's a record for him)!

    All is well in pleaseanton again! Thank you everyone for all the helpful advice. I'm glad to have learned how to open a snakes mouth, but I'm equally glad I didn't have to go to those lengths to help out Roku. Just five days old with the wisdom of millions of years. Snakes are so great! :D
