I am never surprised anymore when I rescue snakes... and i do use the term rescue selectively.

Last snake that I picked up, if he does not top out at close to 3kg at a good weight, I will be shocked.

But when I picked him up the owner said "he stopped eating about 6-8 months ago, so I just decided to stop feeding him. Seems he doesn't like to eat."

    *blink* *blink*

I was not the burn that ran from his chin to his vent... or that he was being fed 400g rats that were being left in for weeks at a time with him.

    *nah* Snake just hates food!

I took him home, set him up, and he has rarely missed a meal.

Glad she is in a good home. :)

Who is still amazed that a few of the snakes he rescued do not hate people more than they do.

yes i was one of those stupid ppl about two years ago, but thankfully my friend samantha took my old snake and took care of her right. now i have ten more bp's (after ALOT of reading up haha) and even though i attempt feeding once every five days, have taken them ALL to the herp vet along with some poop, (there's nothing wrong) some of them still wont eat, and they are all skin and bones, so i've started to assist feed, and they're slowly gaining weight, but the guy i bought them from said they had all eaten about two times before i bought them, but three haven't voluntarily eaten since i got them. they're getting better but i understand what you mean. at least there are rescuers like you though, granted the ppl dont learn the lesson by way of their snake dying or getting horribly sick, but the snake gets a better life. :D

Ugh....that poor girl! Glad to hear she is in a better home now!

I was one of those stupid ones that listen to the petshop people but I don't think we had our bp for 24 hours before I started reading, and reading, and reading, and asking questions, and reading! I've probably done more reading in the 6 or 7 months that we have had our bp then I've done my whole life! You would think that with a new pet or whatever, the excitement of owning one in the first place would give you the motivation and drive to learn more about them. Unless they didn't want the snake in the first place. Even then I can't imagine not learning more about them.

i've realized how underweight my snake was when i got it versus now... it's so sad.

the "rescuing" of an animal like a BP seems to be happening more often now a days. the lady that had the snake i rescued didn't ever want it... it was dumped on her by an ex boyfriend who simply left the snake at her house when he moved. it was on dirty shavings with a puked up rat in the corner and hot yukky water. and a heat lamp. and no hide. it had been like this for ages and had huge burns.

the snake is better now, eats like a freakin HoGGGG. "rescues" really do make some good eaters when it comes down to it.

do you have a picture of your new found friend?
