i've found some success in making my own hides...i bought some tortilla containers from a local dollar store and cut out entrances on each hide with my soldering gun and they serve their purpose. i mean its nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

    check out the pic below:

the middle hide is her water dish that i left the container lid on and just cut out a hole to make her a water hide.

i added a few zip ties to the water dish since she would knock the lid off.

For larger snakes, I use 12oz dish pans from WalMart or 10-12" plastic plant pots cut down to proper height. Cheap and easy to make and clean. :D

I have cut washed old yogurt or cottage cheese containers to make hides before. Some of them won't be as snug as the pottery containers, but they work pretty well. I've also cut holes in gladware containers to make hides. Then I've taken a lighter in a well ventilated area and used it to melt the plastic so it wouldn't have sharp edges.

I use pet food bowls from ikea. If your using a rack they are perfect, I use them for water bowls and hides. Because they are so large they cannot tip over in the rack. They have two sizes, one is perfect up to about 1900g and the small ones are good for hatchlings/young snakes. They are dirt cheap too..
