Do people have their scent glands removed like you can with ferrets?

I would imagine that you can have their scent glands removed. I work with baby and juvi skunks at the wildlife center and they are relatively tame with humans (at least when they are young). They also tend to be good eaters in captivity, at least the litters that we have.

I'm just not sure how you can legally get a skunk as a pet. I hope these people didn't just find it in their garage and decide "hey a new cute pet". That's not only illegal, but just darn stupid...

I was disappointed the video didn't have a good close-up of the face. Skunks have the cutest faces! I know this from getting close enough to more than one wild adult skunk as a child. The smell wasn't offensive to me, but if you are close enough and breathe in through your mouth it tastes horrid! It is also a sure way to get your mother very angry when you come home smelling of skunk.

I love the idea of having one as a pet, but somehow I think that if you could just remove the scent gland and have a good pet, then they'd would be popular, at least a lot more so than they are, and since they aren't...

BTW, if you look at the other stuff this youtube account has, there are 2 more short clips. One of them says that this skunk has been released in to the wild.

The vid of the skunk chasing the girl around the room... that is pretty darn cute.
