But the post I responded to was a bit abrasive. I assure you I know what I'm doing and if/when I have questions I have 2 experts (actual professional in the field) to call on for help. He has probably forgotten more information then I could collect collaboratively on the net.
I more wanted to know who has seen this type of behavior in Balls and hear stories.
    Thanks for all the replies

It looks to me like you were looking for answers, not anecdotal stories.

    Anyone have an explanation?
So, did you call your experts for an explanation? What did they have to say?

I also agree with dr. del - your night time temps should not be dropping. You should be keeping your temps at 90-94 on the warm side and 80-84 on the cool side. And measuring with a digital device.

There's a lot of reasons the snake could have been striking, but without more detailed information from you (size of enclosure, number of hides offered, current temps at the time of the strike, time of day, etc) - it's just a guess from any of us.

    Acted like a ball again.

Just out of curiosity, when you say he acted like a ball again what do you mean? Is he being a typical “ball” by remaining balled up and very passive when you and your child handle him?

I'm neither an expert nor your "homey". I'm also quite interested though to know who the two experts are that you are referring to.

Again... sorry to come off as an ahole in the response; but the response I quoted was abrasive..... but I understand that it's hard to read tone.
I do not give out peoples names over the internet so sorry I can't name my friend... but he runs the reptile exhibit at a place in town; is a local extractor, keeps and breeds hots and does research. Those who post on a lot of rep forums would prob know the name.
Like I said; I called one friend and was told it was nothing to worry about; most likely that he'd eaten and was making his way to water and was startled..... just to get him out, which I did with no problems.
They have told me that the temps are safe and to not let it drop below 75 ambient during the night; and to run the lamp on a cycle
Yes it stays warmer at the hide at all times; that's where the UTH is. I measure temps with a digital thermo
When I said "acted like a ball again" I meant the temperament was docile. He doesn't act "stressed" when handled nor curl up or try to get away.
I just didn't like being responded to like I'm an idiot or an irresponsible owner. I posted the question up here (after successfully getting an answer on my own) because I joined up a few weeks ago and wanted to see what else I'd get.
Again, not trying to be rude.... I appreciate all the responses and would like to feel comfortable posting in the future.
