    Also, ball pythons seem to be ambush hunters and so having them in their own space might, over time, maintain a good feeding response.

    I have sliding doors on the front of my cage so when he is done eating, I just remove the larger door and let him slither back into his cage. I never touch him except for putting him in the other container before feeding.

    I feed my balls 1 small rat every 7 days. If the snake isn't hungry they may not eat the rat. Then the rat will cruise around the cage and nibble on things. Hope this helps.

    Ted and Cop~ I always never try to generalize too much when it comes to the keeping of these snakes because it seems as though there are so many different little tweaks that each keeper does based on the individual needs and preferences of their snakes.
    I also try hard to not get into a blind pattern either since that seems as though a keeper could end up missing subtle clues that their snakes are giving them or pass down good alternatives and new ways that have been found and proven worthy.
    So, what I am trying to say is that all ideas and methodologies are worth sharing and are worth questioning and talking about and exploring; it's how we learn, after all! :D
