my guess is that it wont happen again. I bet the build up around the edge prevented the eycap from coming off on later sheds. Now that the 'build up' is off, I would imagine its smooth sailing.

Good job though! Scary or not.

Looking good..although I think I'd be absolutely horrified when that first started to come off...
