Nope...12QT only used as a QT tub for a couple of weeks...then cleaned and has been empty for a month or so.

Water was purified from a Colagan (sp?) water tap.

3 sprays of "Shed Ease" were added but I have used this stuff for years and never seen anything like this (I have had this bottle before and no issue).

Keep the ideas coming as I am still trying to figure it out...going to go bath another snake just as a test.

my first thought was poop or pee...
consitering my blood uses the facilities when she sheds.... aha but i guess the taste test would have proved this.

Yes, I would have thought this too...but there was nothing noticeable in the water after I removed him.

I would guess that your new snake had a betadine soak at some point and that is what came off on your hand.

Check with the place you got him and see if that's what happened.

I will ask but why would someone soak a snake in Betadine?

Betadine is used in all sort of applications to clean wounds & help prevent infection.

Specifically in regards to snakes, I believe I've seen it recommended for scale rot and burns.

I remember that happened to me once before. Dont remember it as powerey, but i think it could be from urates.

Helpful hint, use rubber gloves(eg cleaning yellow gloves) to remove stuck shed by hand as fingers are slippery. Give your snake a firm rub down to peel the shed off. (works even better when your snake has soaked a few hours. :gj:

Have fun and get use to bloods stuck sheads. Nightmare(for me).
