Oh and question. We didn't find this until we brought her home but while having her move through our hands, we felt a tiny little bump near her tail end. Its on her side and a few inches (3-5 inches) from her tail. Its under the skin and very small but other than the skin being raised (not swollen though) there is no sign of injury. Its not open or swollen or anything like that. Just a little bump. Anyone know what this could be? You can't really take a picture since its so small.

Well, you know the routine: You got her from a pet store and so now you go to the vet for a check up and parasite check. Take a stool sample and have the vet check out what the bump is... Could it just be a kink?

Yea, I'm really wanting to take her out of her cage right now, but I'm trying to let her settle in. We are going to set up a vet appointment. (maybe try and get one in today).

I am falling in love with boas. I think I'm going to try and find a boy next year. :)

I feel, with boas, that getting accustomed to their new environment includes getting accustomed to their new keeper and this lesson was taught to me by Sharon Moore, a respected breeder who has been breeding boas for a long time.
Feel free to take your boa out of the cage and handle her! She is not a ball python and she needs to get used to you also!! :gj:

We love to handle her. She is so much nicer to handle than the ball pythons. She is curious and much more active. I have to start being a bit slower though. With my ball pythons, I can make quick movements and they don't seem to care. This little girl struck at me this morning when I moved past her too fast. If I move nice and slow, she will let me even get close to her head, so slow movements are good around her.

We don't have a name for her yet but we have a few ideas. :) Oh and she has a vet appointment tomorrow so I'll post on how that goes. I love this girl so much. I'm so glad we got her. :)
