I use Mazuri lab block with Science Diet small kibble senior and Becky's mix for my mice. Yes, they do scatter it all over, but I've found they do it to get to their 'favorite pieces'. Given 3-4 days (which is how often I clean my tubs out) they usually eat most of what was scattered. I just pick out any blocks to put back in the dish since those they eat much slower.
On this mixture, I have almost 0 infanticide (only lost a litter to some tired out breeders), and mice with glossy coats and lots of energy...LOTS of energy :)
