Hmm, if you don't have the room for a beardie, then you can't get the best lizard out there: Blue Tongue Skink!!

However, for limited space the good ones would be a leopard gecko, plated lizard, or Schneider's Skink. All three can be handled, and can even like it, and require a (in order) 10g tank, 20L-30g tank, and 20L tank. :)

Beardies are Great, But not a easy animal to care for if you take care of them right. A min. of a 3x2x2 for a adult (hopefully larger), and a baby can eat 100 crickets in a day, Plus salad. And all the UVB stuff, as there are only about 4 specific Models of specific bulbs that are safe, plus Adenovirus. But if you can cover all that stuff, They are THe best Lizard. And they are pretty close to trainable, I know they are easily set on different ways of doing things, pretty ritualistic, And they are very smart and friendly.

Id say an adult Leopard Gecko, Great colors, and adults usually have no problem being held. Cresteds seem popular and easy also.
