Re: new to snakes - questions
Ok, got in touch with Rich! He said that an 80 watt radiant heat panel would suffice without any heat tape or anything else. I've always heard they need belly heat to be able to digest and the like. So now I'm all sorts of confused! Maybe it's because of the panel heating the ground?
I feel really clueless!
Re: new to snakes - questions
In a tub, you want belly heat because there is only 6" of airspace to heat. In an actual reptile enclosure, such as what Reptile Basics sells, you would want a RHP to heat the air.
Just get the flexwatt(plus the thermostat obviously), either 1 or 2 pieces, and go from there.

I forgot to mention this was advice considering the taller 2x3 enclosure they sell instead of the tub. So instead of the tub, getting the 2x3x14" enclosure, having an 80 watt radiant panel put in. He said with that setup I wouldn't need any UTH or heat tape.

Yup, you wont regret getting the reptile cage from Rich! I'd take his advice; he knows his cages and snakes!!
