Re: Freshly built new rack!
I would have used 1 sideplate or without the space in between.
But its looking good!
Re: Freshly built new rack!
Thanks for all the support everyone!
The substrate is actually "Desert Snow" made by T-Rex. It's very similar to Diamond Soft. It's excellent though, clumps up for easy spot cleaning and there really wasn't any play in the humidity.. if anything the humidity went up.

Yeah I would have built it like that except the Lowes in my town didn't have boards that wide.
And the total cost for the entire rack with tubs was $210. about $330 with thermostat.

If you wanted to enclose the whole side you could have used MFD board. It comes in 4' X 8' sheets and costs slightly over $20.00 per sheet. All you need to do is paint it to seal it up. Since the snakes never contact the sides all you need to worry about is sealing it so moisture does not affect it. You can also use it to close up the back solid if you wanted too. Then you just use the laminate shelving for the shelves!
Re: Freshly built new rack!
Sweet I was thinking about building one but I am too lazy my tank that I built was a big pain.
Re: Freshly built new rack!

Well, another thing you can do instead of mdf board is use dry erase board for it. It will hold the humidity in very well and is very cheap for a 8X4 foot piece of it
$210!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, for the melamine on my 4 slot rack costed me $45, each 8X4 melamine sheet only costed 35 bucks, and i only used one
