Re: Not only my snake loves mice...
My cats just stare at our mice if we have any in the house for feeding day. With rats, they treat them like equals. Not sure if any of you saw my post about the escapee rat we had that went missing. Turns out it was in our bedroom, sharing a water bowl with our cat! They were drinking side-by-side from the same water dish and the cat didn't even seem to notice this newcomer. Wierd little cat.

(To the one with the dog attempting to eat the mouse....my only question is this....why did you hit the dog on the head? I don't know about you but I never ever hit my animals. Now, I was not there and I don't know what you mean by hit. I could have been a tap, or it could have been an actual HIT, but using the word hit seems like you were a bit harsh towards the dog.)

I'm pretty sure the comment you are getting defensive about wasn't even aimed at you. So maybe you should get clarification before getting defensive. If you'd read the whole thread and read Melanie's (python princess) post carefully, you'd see that a different poster was talking about letting their cat play with a mouse. True, Melanie sort of lumped it in the same sentence as the comment about holding the mouse in one hand and the snake in the other, but I think that was just because she was lightly touching on a few things she didn't think were good ideas. If she'd really wanted to bash on anyone, she probably have devoted more time to it. But the whole point was that wasn't her point, so no need for anyone to get so defensive.

Now, the comments by more than one person about not holding a snake while feeding it, and/or holding it in one hand while holding the mouse in the other, are aimed at you. And I have to agree with the people that say this isn't a good idea.

To be fair, J. Bissell's post clearly states that it was the friend, not J. Bissell, who hit the dog.

It wasn't being fed. I was getting a cage ready for it to be fed. :weirdface In retrospect it wasn't a good idea, it's been a while, and it was my first snake. <insert noob smiley here>

Also, my dog had the mouse in its mouth. He hit it on the head to get her to spit it out, which she did. It was actually more of a hard tap. This wasn't a beating. I would have done it if I had been closer. That's how the animal world works. Ever seen Dog Whisperer?

    Wow...
