Even an experienced keep could be taken by aback by the sheer physical strength these animals possess. The lady is lucky a 12' burm couldn't have eaten her I wouldn't think but it could have kill her had she been alone. This is a classic example of a SFE that could have cost big.

I totally understand (not from experience but I can imagine quite vividly) I don't want to be rude, but she simply sounded like she wasn't very knowledgeable about giants like burms, and therefor should not be handling them. The whole story looks foolish and blown out of proportion to make the snake look evil, but isn't that usually the case?

That is normally the case, and most pet store employee's are completely incompetent of giant boid care, safety, or management. They're simply taught a bunch of bs, that they try (most successfully do it) feeding to their customers, when they want to purchase an animal, such as this. A 12' animal could have easily killed, or harmed her. When compared to other species, giants definitely take the cake towards strength, on even a developing youngster...

I'm glad the snake was OK. But the subtitle under the video that talon supplied a link for says "Python tries to swallow owner." That is nuts! The Burm didn't try to swallow her - it was just showing her what she was capable of.

How did you hear that? Funny, I never heard that part. What a dummie!

well of course the media is going to make it sound as bad as possible. if there's a snake involved, it ends up being a complete horror story about the poor thing. They need to get a herp expert on the news to show how incompetent that woman was instead of making it the snake's fault, if you ask me.

I'll stick with my ball pythons - a size I can manage even when full grown. 5-6ft is my limit. Some people just aren't smart enough to know what they can handle.

    Stupid humans is right.

Unfortunately no matter what animal you have you can NEVER control what they are going to do! I have horses as well as snakes and even though they are the nicest animals and I am very experienced with them you never can tell........ :)
