Garter Snakes... friend or foe?

Yes, garters are pretty cool. I've been peed on about 4 times in the last week by them - they are out and about here in WV, too. But usually ours try to bite first, though they calm down after a few minutes. But I would still call them friends - never foes. They are too cute.
