Re: I need a little job advice.
I've been to the job placement office on my campus and they only work with a handful of businesses so they have limited offerings. And generally what they DO have is not what I want.
I've tried temp placement offices as well. They say they can't find me anything that I want for the pay that I need, or some other issues. It's always something.
I'll give Craigslist a shot later on today. I've looked through the Palm Beach Post frequently, but rarely see anything that catches my eye. Those that do usually require 2 years experience. I hit dead ends no matter which way I go. The only way I've ever had success in getting a job is actually walking in and asking to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, some of these jobs are far away (and of the type that I can't just waltz in and demand a meeting with the manager) so I can't use that tactic.
Re: I need a little job advice.
I have interviewed and hired (or not hired) hundreds of people over the years. I would be happy to give you advice on what to say or not say, and how to carry yourself in an interview. But, you alone must take the first step. You need to decide exactly what it is that you want to do. This may very well be the hardest part for you, but it IS the necessary first step.
And don't worry about the fact that many people are more qualified than you. This will always be the case in life. And remember this... Barbara Walters interviewed just about every successful person in the world and asked them all the same question. "What is your greatest fear?" Most of them had the same reply. "That I will be found out." "That people will discover that I am not so great as they think I am."
We are all insecure to some extent. Successful people are just better at hiding it.
