Very nice, you are a very lucky person. Best of luck to you, I hope you get a lot of plattys out of her.

Good luck with the odds. I bet that girl set you back a couple $$.
Re: Platty daddy's in my future
sorry sir. im kinda new here. please correct me if im wrong. but you need to breed a lesser to a platinum in order to get platinums right? im a little bit color blind. the pic you posted, is that a platinum? cos it looks lie a normal to me.
Re: Platty daddy's in my future

ok. thanks. i got it. but in kevin's book it says to produce a platty you need a platty x lesser or a platty x normal (het. gene carrier).
not from a lesser x normal(het gene carrier).
hmm...:imslow::imslow::imslow:
Re: Platty daddy's in my future
Thanks everyone!
out of all the projects i am doing this year this is one that is tough to know what will come out because not only did i breed an rdr lesser to her but also a pastel lesser as well so if things work out it could be the first pastel platty daddy ever produced which would be nuts ...i hope...........
Re: Platty daddy's in my future
Pastel platty would be awesome, good luck!

The gene that makes an animal a platinum is now widely thought to be another allele of the platinum complex. ie: It shares the same exact location as the other genes in the complex. Since genes are paired there can only be two different alleles at any given loci.
Some of the identified genes in the platinum complex are.
Lesser
butter
mojave
phantom
platty sibling
vin russo het white diamond
You can have only two of these in any one snake. Some of the mixes that have been done so far are
Lesser X Lesser = leucistic
butter x butter = leucistic
mojave x mojave = leucistic (or super mojave as some people are calling them since they still have a lot of color)
phantom x phantom = super phantom
vin russo het X vin russo het = leucistic (white diamond I think it's called)
mojave X lesser = leucistic (with a bit of color but not as much as a super mojave)
lesser x phantom = Karma Leucistic (more color then lesser x lesser)
sibling x lesser = Platinum
sibling x butter = butter platty
sibling x phantom = phantom 44
sibling x sibling = normal looking gene carrier (Ralph did this several times and couldn't tell the difference between the snakes but presumably he would have wound up with 25% super siblings (homozygous gene carriers) 50% siblings (heterozygous gene carriers) and 25% normals (non gene carrier)
So, if Chaos breeds his sibling to anything carrying the lesser gene, he should get about a 25% shot at producing a Platinum.
