It is definately a male and a female. They have been breeding before.

I don't think they need to be together.

I have seen a lot of 1.1 python regius in the same tank. They have been together for years, and there have been no problem with them. So i thought that I could have my pair together. But I wanted to be sure wether or not this would be fine, so that's why I asked here.

I read somwere about a guy that have had 1.1 bp together. They were hiding together, basking together, and were best of friends.

But as I said, I want to be sure before I put them together. So thanks for the answers. They will be living seperately:)

No problem. I always try to view the actions of BP's as very elementary and simply instinctive. BP's do not have a higher conscience, and do not need friends or have any inclination as to what friendship is.

I view the cuddling and following each other around the tank as completely dominating and instinctual by them to gain the best perceived spots.

Also, males will try to breed other males ;) It's quite documented that they will try when in the heat of breeding, best bet is to always, ALWAYS double check by popping or probing :gj: People have had years where they found their females was a male or vice versa. Can put a damper on breeding endeavors. lol :8:
