I think every BP owner should own several so each snake has a lot of alone-time. A 3-5 drawer rack doesn't take up much space at all, and BPs seem very happy in racks.

BTW, I don't see any increased aggression when not handling snakes more than once a week when I'm inspecting and cleaning. It's amazing how docile these snakes are without any conditioning at all.

Fear Is A Mind Killer

Had one of our big girls start doing this! Then we realized we left the rat holding pen in the same room as her enclosure for a couple days. :colbert: They can smell that stuff and if they smell it long enough they can get a little crazy. Sometimes if they are full they will strike defensively as instinctively I think BP's know rats have teeth. If not full they will start looking for something warm to strike at to eat and your hand is about the right size for a small to medium rat!

At least this was our opinion on it cause after we removed the holding pen 2 days later she was as calm as can be!

No Ball Pythons actually do better in smaller enclosures they are shy by nature and unlike other snakes are more prone to stress so having a adequate size enclosure is very important as well as everything else.

Even an adult does not require anything larger than a 30/40 gallons tanks.

Also remember the bigger the enclosure the harder it is to maintain proper temps and humidity.

A 300 grams BP can be house in a 15 quarts tub or 10 gallons tank.
