I was talking about him using a bobby pin. :O

OK, although it's unfair to compare humans to snakes...I'm a male in his mid-40's and have recently gone through all the necessary male-mid-life-battery-of-probing...and all I can says is...there's not a darn thing pleasant about it! :tears:
Is it any wonder why I'm being so gentle with Monty?
Now where did I put my bobby pins? Oh, right...male pattern baldness...I'll add 'em to my grocery list :D

i highly doubt it was too unpleasant for the snake to move. here i thought it was common sense that animals try to get away when they are being hurt instead of sitting there like nothing is happening:rolleyes:
i think a vet would know a little more than you about the subject...

A friend of mine once told me that you shouldn't probe adult balls or heavy bodied snakes because if they get anxious, they can wrap their tails downward into the probe and injure themselves. Is there any truth to that?
Re: I think Vincent is a girl? *Popping question*
If you know what you are doing, and can hold an adult ball down appropriately, there is nothing wrong with probing an adult at all.
Its when you have them thrashing around and when you have no control is when the accidents can happen.

Thats why you have a second person helping you to prevent this from happening.A young ball python could do the same thing if allowed to toss itself around uncontrolled ;)

lol. I think Vincent is a boy now! I popped Jules and he had little hemipenes (spelling?), which is kinda what I saw on Vincent. So no babies from those two in the future. :D
Unless of course they want to adopt, and then I will support them in whatever they choose. ha!
:salute:
Re: I think Vincent is a girl? *Popping question*
So you were able to pop vincent without any problems?
I've tried on Monty several times...each time thinking I was pressing too hard...yet nothing 'popped' out. I've probably watched that video about 10 times, but cannot seem to get the feel for it. Ralph makes it look so easy, and I followed all the steps, but nothing... :(
What can I be doing wrong???
Can anyone offer a suggestion of what I may be forgetting...based on their own first pop? ;)
