No Josh, moving them is not the same as prescenting. Prescenting is to get the snake in hunting mode, because he can smell the rat/mouse. It's stimulation with scent.
You've taught them a pattern. Snake can learn very easy and simple patterns. My 14 snakes know that feeding day is always Saturday. They are locked and loaded on Saturday and will let you know they are hungry the second you walk in the room. They all go to the front of the tub and wait for dinner.
Also, handling snakes on feeding day is sorta a big deal. (I.e. playing with them) will get you more refusals than it's worth. Some can handle it, but many dont like it. I've handled some of my friendliest snakes on feeding day, just to have them refuse food later.
OP, if your snake refused one meal, don't worry just yet. There are some great suggestions here. Prescenting is a great way to get the snake in the mood to eat.
You can also get dirty mouse bedding and place it in the enclosure for an hour before hand. Make sure the mouse is extra warm (if FT), and try to keep things simple. If they dont strike it, you can leave the mouse in overnight. Lights off and come back in the morning and hopefully you find no mouse. Sounds like your on your way ;)
