I had that happen last year too. One egg was a definite troublemaker.. It rolled probably 3-4 times, once when I pulled momma off, and a few more times in the egg box. So I propped it up with a clean bottle cap and he hatched out fine :) Of course it was a normal male who likes to fling himself at me during feeding time. Trouble..

you will be able to see what I can best describe as a halo with a black dot in the middle. This is typically in the middle of the veins in the egg.
Thanks, Tim. That is exactly what I was talking about. I always think of it as the umbilicus since it's the main attachment point. My paranoia from the roll stemmed from the worry that some of the vessels might sever and render it infertile, but candled the little bugger again this morning and still healthy and glowing bright.

Thanks again to all those who offered solid advice. I'll be expecting little 'whoops' and his sibs in around 56 days.

    Cheers,
    Kat

No problem Kat. I seem to have a least 5-10 eggs every year that just roll away from the rest of the clutch when I uncoil mom. I bet that egg will be fine.

All this time I've been so anal retentive over getting mom carefully away without jostling the clutch. (sigh). Nature outwits me again. :D

I used to be overly gentle with eggs in the past. Most people I know would probably have a heart attack if they watched me handle eggs now. You definitely would not want to watch me candle eggs at day 40 when I am trying to see if it's a Caramel or a Normal in there.
