Re: What size of sterilite tubs do you guys use for bp hatchling racks?
I think there is a big misconception about large tubs for hatchlings. I've raised many hatchlings in various sizes (12/15/28/32 qt) with the same results. You could probably raise a hatchling in a 55 gallon aquarium if you did it correctly....................the point being, is that the tub size does not matter. The security and hide issue is what matters the most. When I'm building racks, I think further into the future. You could build a 6qt tub rack.......then what? You move them up to a 15qt rack? Then a 32? then a 41 or larger (CB-70 size). Personally, I'd rather not do all the moving throughout the growing stages. If you start out with a 28 or 32, your gonna get more use out of it. I guess it also depends on your feeding schedule and how quick your snakes grow. Thats just my 2 cents........!

I use 6 qt for hatchlings, 12 qt for anything over 200g and 28 qt for anything over 1000g. My runt '05 female is still in a 12 qt at just over 1000g. She eats like no other and I've even been breeding her in the 12 qt. That's right, I've had 3 solid locks in a 12 qt, and she eats 2 rats between pairings like clockwork. My bigger girls are all in 28 qt tubs and they are all thriving and breeding too. I also don't use hides for a lot of my snakes. This might change a little once I have more room, but I don't see any reasons to make a any changes yet. Smaller works for me.
